Rishikesh is spread over eight kilometres of riverbank with the good things at the edges. Autos price you by how lost you look. The Activa costs less than a day’s auto fare, has no gears to learn, weighs 111 kg so you can push it out of a bad parking spot, does around 50 kmpl, and fits down the Laxman Jhula lanes where a Classic 350 would be a mistake.
It also handles Kunjapuri and Neelkanth without complaint. People assume a scooter can’t climb those. It can.

If you’re in Rishikesh for a 200-hour or 300-hour TTC at Tapovan or Swarg Ashram, you’re here four weeks and you’ll want to move between the school, the cafés, the ghats and the market every day. At ₹9,000 a month that’s ₹300 a day, against ₹500 daily — and you stop negotiating with an auto driver twice a day for a month.

Licence — Read This Before Booking
You need a valid driving licence. A gearless / MC-50CC endorsement is sufficient for the Activa — it is not sufficient for any Royal Enfield in our fleet.
If you have a full MCWG licence, that covers the Activa too. Foreign visitors need a passport and an International Driving Permit, same as for any vehicle. Full document requirements →
Where It Goes
Everywhere in town. Tapovan, Laxman Jhula, Ram Jhula, Swarg Ashram, the Shivpuri cafés, the market, the railway station.
Kunjapuri sunrise. 35 km on sealed road. Leave at 4:30, it’ll get you there. Go slowly on the descent in the dark.
Neelkanth Mahadev. 32 km through forest with a lot of hairpins. Fine, if unhurried.
Not to Kedarnath. People ask. The papers permit it and the scooter physically can’t do it well — small wheels, no ground clearance, no range. Take a Himalayan 411 for anything north of Devprayag.
