Where a Bike From Rishikesh Can Take You
Rishikesh is a trailhead, not a destination. Everything north of here is switchbacks, river gorges and altitude, and the road only really opens up once you have your own wheels under you.
Every bike we rent carries a commercial taxi-series plate with all-Uttarakhand permissions, so there’s no district you can’t legally ride into and no checkpost that will turn you around over paperwork. What follows is every ride we’re regularly asked about, honestly rated.
Half-Day Rides
Out after breakfast, back for lunch. Any bike in the fleet, including the Activa.
| Ride | Distance | Time | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kunjapuri sunrise | 35 km | Half day | The whole range at first light |
| Neelkanth Mahadev | 32 km | Half day | Forest ghat road, thirty-plus hairpins |
| Devprayag | 70 km | Half day | Where the Ganga begins |
Weekend Rides
Two or three days. A Classic 350 or Guerrilla 450 on sealed roads, a Himalayan 411 where it gets rough.
| Ride | Distance | Days | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tehri Lake | 90 km | 1–2 | Empty tarmac above the water |
| Mussoorie, Dhanaulti & Kanatal | 230 km loop | 2 | Switchbacks and deodar forest |
| Chopta & Tungnath | 165 km | 2 | Highest Shiva temple in the world |
| Kedarnath | 220 km | 3 | The classic Uttarakhand pilgrimage ride |
The Big Ones
Four days and up. A Himalayan — this is not the place to save ₹600 a day.
| Ride | Distance | Days | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Badrinath & Mana | 295 km | 3–4 | The last village before Tibet |
| Auli & Joshimath | 250 km | 3 | Snow, the ropeway, Nanda Devi |
| Gangotri & Harsil | 250 km | 3–4 | The most beautiful valley in the state |
| Yamunotri | 200 km | 3 | The first dham, and the quietest |
| Valley of Flowers & Hemkund | 275 km | 4–5 | Six weeks a year, and worth planning around |
| The full Chardham circuit | ~1,600 km | 10–12 | All four dhams, in order |
| Adi Kailash & Om Parvat | ~1,400 km | 9–10 | The hardest thing in Uttarakhand |
Out of State
Possible, and must be agreed at booking — the insurance and permit position outside Uttarakhand is different and we need to arrange it properly before you leave.
| Ride | Distance | Days |
|---|---|---|
| Nainital & Kumaon | 280 km | 2–3 (still Uttarakhand) |
| Spiti Valley | ~1,100 km | 10–12 |
| Leh & Ladakh | ~1,300 km | 12–14 |
Before You Pick One
Season decides more than anything else. July and August close roads that are perfect in October. The dhams shut entirely from November to April. Read the month-by-month calendar before you fix dates.
Clearance beats power. The thing that makes a Uttarakhand road hard is almost never the gradient. Which bike for which route →
Ask us what’s open. It’s a question we answer several times a day and it changes weekly. We’d rather tell you before you’ve booked a hotel in Guptkashi.
