The Most Capable Motorcycle We Rent
If the trip is long, high, or both, this is the bike.
The Sherpa 450 is a genuinely modern engine — liquid-cooled, 40 bhp, ride-by-wire — and the difference it makes shows up in two places that matter in Uttarakhand. First, altitude and heat. An air-cooled single crawling in Chardham season traffic at 3,000 metres gets hot and unhappy; the 450 doesn’t notice. Second, the sixth gear. Over a thousand-kilometre circuit, having a relaxed cruising gear instead of screaming in fifth is the difference between arriving tired and arriving wrecked.
The suspension is a step up too — 200 mm of travel front and rear, 230 mm of clearance — and the bike absorbs broken surface where the 411 makes you feel every bit of it.
It is the tallest bike in the fleet at 825 mm. We keep a low seat that brings it to 805 mm. Tell us your height when you book and it’ll be fitted before you arrive.

Where It Earns Its Rate
Badrinath and Mana. 295 km, three to four days, the last village before Tibet. Long highway stretches plus altitude — precisely what this bike is for.
Auli and Joshimath. 250 km, snow at the top for much of the year, a steep climb.
The full Chardham circuit. 1,600 km across ten to twelve days. This is the bike we recommend for it without hesitation.
Adi Kailash and Om Parvat. Nine days into Kumaon along the Nepal border, some of the hardest surface in the state. Guided expeditions with Inner Line Permits arranged →
Two-up with luggage, anywhere. The extra power and suspension travel stop being a luxury the moment there’s a pillion and two bags on the carrier.
Is It Worth ₹600 a Day More Than the 411?
Sometimes, and not always. We’ll tell you which.
Worth it when: the trip is longer than four days · you’re riding two-up with luggage · the route includes Badrinath, Auli, Adi Kailash or the full circuit · there are long highway transits · you’re over about 5’9” and the extra room matters · you’ve ridden a lot and the 411’s pace would frustrate you.
Not worth it when: it’s a three-day Kedarnath run · it’s your first mountain trip on a bike · you’re under 5’6” and would be happier flat-footed · budget is the constraint. Take the 411 and spend the difference on a better room in Guptkashi.
One Honest Caveat
The 450 is the more complex machine. A village mechanic in Sonprayag can fix a 411 with what’s in his box; a liquid-cooled DOHC engine with ride-by-wire needs a proper workshop, which means Rudraprayag, Joshimath or Uttarkashi rather than wherever you happen to be.
In practice this almost never comes up — these are new, well-maintained bikes and we service them on a schedule. But if you’re going deep and remote and want the maximum-probability-of-getting-home option, the 411 has an argument. We’d rather say that than not.
